Morgadio Da Calcada
Year: 2016
Location: Duoro, Portugal
Morgadio Da Calcada built in the end of 17th century, by Judge Jeronimo da Cunha Pimentel, Casa Calcada is one of the most ancient Mansions in Provezenda. The construction reflects a significant period in the progression of the family. It is a huge building with great “en lade” halls, keeping the original ceilings and colors in its interior and the epoque furniture, where you still
enjoy the atmosphere of the great vineyard houses of the Duoro region. It is a very small recovered in traditional methods hotel, located in the old stables and agricultural sheds of Portugal.
All the rooms are spread through several patios, which provides the privacy that every guest would appreciate. During the summer the kitchen area is completely opened revealing to the guests the overwhelming views of the vines that are used to produce the famous Morgadio da Calcada wines. The outside area offers an open space with trees and benches to read and a swimming pool area.
The aim of the project is to renovate the space using contract design in collaboration with furnishing company - RODA.
